What are the advantages to learning dance?

Many people assume dance is about the individual, but it's definitely a team sport! From the moment a student puts on their shoes, they are working closely with their classmates, the teacher and the other classes in the school. Every single dancer at The Academy contributes to the success of our midyear and end of year concerts, competitions and charity events.

 

Aside from the social benefits of learning to dance, the obvious ones are around health and wellbeing. Dance is a fantastic way to keep fit and to promote positive mental health. 

 

The other advantage to learning to dance (especially through The Academy) is to find a safe and nurturing space to grow an interest into a passion. Since we started The Academy in 1989, we have worked hard to develop a culture that is positive, inspiring and brings the most out of our students - in fact, some of our teachers have been dancing with us since they were 3 years old! For a lot of our students, The Academy is a second family.

 

How do I enrol?

Enrolment is only done once per year, before Term 1 commences. Enrolment forms can be found on enrolment section of our website.

 

Once a complete enrolment form is submitted, it is processed and activated. While enrolment only happens once per year, parents are welcome to amend the enrolment at any stage - whether it's adding new classes, changing classes, or cancelling enrolment.

 

Please note The Academy's Terms and Conditions require 30 days notice in writing to make changes to all enrolments (this is in accordance with our payment provider, Ezidebit)

 

What payment do you accept at The Academy?

The Academy accepts two types of payment processes (please note these apply to fees ONLY):

 

Term-by-Term

Term-by-Term payments are done by registering your credit card or banks details on the back of our enrolment form. Only four payments are made by this process (each one on the first day of each of the four terms).

 

This payment method is managed through our payment provider EziDebit. Your bank statement will have 'Academy of Dance' for all bank detail payements, and it will say 'EziDebit' for credit card payments.

 

Please note, at the end of the year, all enrolment forms are destroyed for privacy reasons and a new enrolment is required for the following year (important for parents who are returning to us that they need to enrol at the start of each year). For additional fees such as costume hire, DVD purchases, etc you can authorise us to use your details on file to process these costs.

 

Upfront payments

Customers receive a 5% discount on their term fees by paying up front for the year. Payment can be in the form of credit card or internet transfer. Please note we do not accept cash for fees (for security reasons) and we no longer accept cheques.

 

How can I get involved with The Academy?

At The Academy, we have a number of parents who kindly volunteer for our mid year and end of year performances. It's a busy time and we appreciate those who step in to help.

 

We have a volunteer register at The Academy which parents can sign up to. We will ask what sort of job you are interested in volunteering for (for example, backstage supervision at the Academy concert, or assisting at the Dance Stars concert) and take down your details. Before each event we will contact those parents on the list and have a meeting at The Academy so you are prepared and understand what's required for the event.
