Performing

Opportunities

One of the performing highlights of the year is the prestigious Annual Performance, which takes place in October each year highlighting the students many performing talents in a full length themed show. Other annual performance opportunities are the Demonstration, which is held in May, this is designed to showcase the students’ class and assessment work in a theatre environment, as a preparation for their assessments. The Choreographic Event, which is held on the last day of term 4 at the Academies studios for Junior, Intermediate and Senior School’s. This is an opportunity for the Students to choreograph their own group or solo dance and to perform it for an adjudicator. Students are given a detailed report and certificate of participation and prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. This is followed by speeches, awards and scholarship presentation and finally the end of year break up party. As well as these planned annual performance opportunities there are other times that students are invited to perform at as well. Past performance opportunities have included Stonningtons’ Viva in the park, Malvern Central shopping centre performances, Ausdance Music Forum, Dance Cancer Initiative, Rove Live & Community fetes amongst many other community focused events. The Academy of Dance and Movement also has a Performance troupe class in development, which works specifically on developing routines for performances and competition.
